I bought a Kindle device that came with ads, not realizing that to remove them (and unlock basic features like showing the book cover on the lock screen), I’d need to pay an extra $20. When I contacted Amazon support, I was told ad removal wasn’t available in my country. I asked to speak with a manager, but was either hung up on or ignored several times. Eventually, I spoke with a manager named Praveen, who promised I would be reimbursed and that the ads would be removed for free. I waited three days with no follow-up or changes to my account. When I contacted support again, I was passed to another manager named Salma, who told me that everything Praveen had told me was misinformation and that they wouldn’t be helping me. I had to re-explain the situation to each new support agent, none of whom seemed to have any notes or context. The entire process was exhausting, full of false promises, and completely unprofessional. For such a large company, this kind of disorganized and dismissive treatment of customers is unacceptable. I no longer trust Amazon support, and I’m extremely disappointed with how I was treated.

Absolutely terrible latest update to selection menu. Now need multiple taps to highlight anything. Multi words selection works very badly. Can’t select anything if it’s more than two pages. The menu that appears after you select a word is very luggy. How this core update is even passed the review, someone should be fired.

Bought a Kindle? Congrats, you just paid for a personal ad machine you can’t turn off. I spent a month in endless emails with Amazon support, following every pointless instruction they could think of. After all that, the ads are still there, and support either repeats the same copy-paste responses or stops replying altogether. Amazon says you can pay to remove ads, but their system errors out every time. Customer service is like shouting into the void. If you want to waste time and money, this is your e-reader. Otherwise, stay far away.

After the latest update the functionality of dictionary and translation in a popup window brought worse experience. I cannot highlight more than one word to translate. The previous one was better, quicker, smoother

I understand that Kindle isn't supported on older Mac models anymore, but this "compromise" version of Kindle is so poor in functionality that my eyes bleed. Shame. I wish at least the last interface before that cruel inhumane decision was still available.

iMac 2018, Sonoma is not supported. But Amazon has disabled support for earlier versions of Kindle. Now I can't comfortably read my books. For that, Kindle is a fat one.

This is a really high-quality app. It has replaced my Kindle device for learning languages while reading because: 1. I can hear the pronunciation while looking up words using the built-in dictionary. 2. The Wikipedia and translation features work like a charm, whereas on the Kindle device they often failed to load, incorrectly claiming there was no connection. Reliable, user-friendly, and smooth – this is the only reader app I need.

After updating the application (on macbook), the ability to quickly highlight text while reading disappeared, and each time a window with notes, translation, and wiki opens. Previously, it was convenient to highlight what was needed on the fly, but now after each selection you have to specify the highlight color -- this takes time and distracts from reading.
